Data collection of the Abiotic factors of the eco column

This is an image of James Murray collecting some of the water from our aqua zone, that we are going to use to determine the pH of the water on one of the three occasions.

This is an image of Alessandro Lupini measuring the temperatur eof our aqua zone using a thermometer.

This is an image of water from our aqua zone that is viewed from under a microscope. you cannot see any living organisms and you can only see some small objects which you can see with the scope. these objects that you can see may be some dust particles that are in the water or some small organisms, but they were no moving so they are most probably dust particles in the water from our aqua zone.

Change in the Biotic components
When we first put together our eco column, we planted some bean seeds and weeds, these have now grown about five centimeters over the past couple of weeks.

Here are the beans and weeds currently. and the second image shows the beans and weeds after we just planted them.

Animals
There is a large number of fruit flies that are inside our decomposition zone. they must be feeding off the decomposing food and fruit. W put in a couple of fruit flies when we made the eco column and so they must have laid some eggs resulting in many more flies in total.

Here is a photo of our decomposition zone. you cannot see any flies inside there as they are very small and are hard to see through the plastic bottles.

Temperature of the Aqua zone

The temperature of the aqua zone was measured with a thermometer. It was measured by James Murray on all three of the occasions. The temperature on the second day dropped because the weather was cold and it was raining.

Temperature of the room
The temperature of the room was pretty much the same all three days but it did drop on the second day because it was cold.

PH of the water
The first day the water was a turquoise kind of colour and on the second day it was a darker green colour and on the third day the colour was a greenish blue colour.

This is the first half of our annotated diagram. this is the picture with labels.

Change in the biotic components

The height of the bean plants have increased, you can start to see the tops of the them.

If we show you a photo of the animals living in the terra zone, you would not be able to see them because there are very small and hard to see. But there are definitely less animals than we put in on the day so it shows that the animals must be dying out.
